Southern food has never been so popular, and at the forefront of that popularity is Chef Hugh Acheson, whose creative interpretation of Southern cuisine put Athens, Georgia on the country's culinary map. Chef Acheson's burgeoning restaurant empire includes Five and Ten, The National and Empire State South, and he is a James Beard award-winning chef and cookbook author.
In cooperation with Douglas County Libraries, Kitchen Table Cooking School is pleased to present a brand-new class featuring a selection of mouthwatering Southern recipes from Chef Acheson's cookbook A New Turn in the South.
Chef Acheson will be appearing in Denver on Saturday, September 29 for two special events at the PACE Center in Parker, and one lucky class participant will win two tickets to Chef Acheson's "Southern Flavor Reinvented" on Saturday night!
In this delicious new class, you'll learn the basic flavor building blocks of Southern cuisine and talk about why the South possesses such a rich culinary history.
You'll begin the evening with a refreshing cocktail of Maker's Mark & Spicy Ginger (a twist on the classic bourbon & ginger) and a lovely antipasto platter, then move on to that Southern staple Pimento Cheese, which is so easy, tasty and impressive that it is bound to become a cornerstone of your holiday entertaining repertoire. The main course will feature Wild Gulf Shrimp & Grits with Local Andouille Sausage and Collard Greens, and this fantastic class will finish with Apple Brown Betty with Sorghum Zabaglione, just in time for apple season. Our sommelier will pair exciting wines with each course to make the evening evem more amazing.
Join us for this incredible evening and learn more about why Southern cooking is the hottest trend in the food world!
