This is probably the most important class you can take to get you into cooking; many home cooks use improper knife technique.

Consider that preparing a meal is about 75% preparation (i.e. dicing, chopping and mincing) and about 25% actual cooking - and when you see how much better your knife skills are once you have completed this class, you will rush home to practice.

knife skillsIn this session, we’ll teach you the basics for handling your knives safely and correctly, including:

 

-Knife safety and how to hold your chef knife properly
-Classic and uniform cuts (brunoise, julienne, suprêmes, chiffonade)
-How to cut an onion properly (so it stays together while cutting!)
-The easy way to cut a bell pepper

knife skills chiffonadeYou will be provided with a selection of light snacks to sustain you through the class, and you will create a delicious, very filling Chicken Vegetable Soup using all the skills you just learned with your knife cuts.

We are happy to provide Wusthof chef knives for your use during the class, as well as tips and advice for purchasing the best knives for your needs. These are the same knives we carry in our store!

Cancellation Policy: Please Read

All sales are final. No refunds will be given unless—and only if—Kitchen Table cancels a class due to low enrollment or inclement weather.

When you register for a class, you are reserving a slot that determines how much food we buy and whether or not the class will be held. Therefore you must notify Kitchen Table Cooking School seven (7) or more calendar days before the date of the class if you are unable to attend class to receive a credit or transfer into a different class. IMPORTANT: This option is available only if you cancel more than seven (7) days before the scheduled class date.

No refunds, transfers, gift cards or credits will be issued if you cancel less than seven (7) calendar days before class date or no show. You can however send another person in your place. We do not provide refunds, transfers or offer makeup sessions for classes missed as a result of illness, job loss, personal emergencies or events beyond our control.

We require that all students be at least 16 years old to sign up for adult classes.

No alcoholic beverages can be served to anyone under 21. Please bring photo ID with proof of age.

Groups of 6 or more:

Registrations for groups of friends or family members need to be handled a little differently from regular class registrations.
